Aerial Vehicles and Navigation
Technologies Laboratory
The Inaugural Ceremony of the Aerial
Vehicles and Navigation Technologies
Laboratory was held on 17th September
2025 at the Centre for Innovation. The
event marked a significant milestone in
advancing research, innovation, and
training in the fields of unmanned aerial
vehicles, flight control systems, and
navigation technologies.
The facility was inaugurated by Dr. B.
Babumanoharan, M.A., M.B.A., Ph.D.,
Chairman, St. Joseph’s Group of
Institutions, and Mr. Kannan Chinnasamy,
Head of COE, Garuda Aerospace Pvt. Ltd.,
who officially opened the laboratory with
a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The newly established laboratory is
equipped with state-of-the-art drones,
flight simulators, navigation systems, and
testing facilities designed to foster
hands-on learning, interdisciplinary
research, and industry collaborations. It
aims to provide students and researchers
with opportunities to explore
aerodynamics, propulsion systems,
autonomous navigation, and AI-driven
aerial applications. As part of the event,
Mr. Kannan Chinnasamy also showcased
and explained the different aerial vehicles
available in the laboratory, highlighting
their applications and potential.
